Find Miller Criminal Dockets

Start a Miller County criminal court docket search by finding which court holds the case, since Superior, Magistrate, Probate, Municipal, and Juvenile Court each keep their own docket. The clerk of that court holds the original record, and that office is the place to turn when the online option is missing, thin, or restricted. A portal result may not show every filed paper. Still, the docket itself is the running account of the case, tracking each charge, setting, plea, and ruling from start to end.

Miller Felonies After State Court

Georgia HB 864 shut down the Miller County State Court in 2024 and set out how its pending matters would transfer. Felony dockets now live in Miller County Superior Court. Old misdemeanor and traffic entries may still wear the former court's label. Many older state directories lag behind that change.

MatterRecord holderKey point
Felony prosecutionSuperior Clerk, Room 103Current principal criminal docket
Warrant or first appearanceMagistrate, Room 110Not always the Superior case record
Certain traffic or misdemeanorsProbate, Room 110Possible where no State Court exists
City traffic or ordinance caseColquitt Municipal CourtSeparate city record

That court split can trick a docket search into a false "no case" answer. As a case moves forward, the same event can leave entries in two different courts.

What a Miller Criminal Docket Shows

Uniform Superior Court Rule 39.3 lays out a detailed criminal register. A Miller County criminal docket can hold far more than a charge and a court date. Expect the charging instrument, each count, counsel, hearings, the judge entering final disposition, pleas, verdicts, sentence terms, warrants, and appeal activity.

Case NumberA unique court identifier; use the exact clerk-issued number.
Charge LinesSpecific counts, accusation or indictment status, and offense class.
ProceedingsDates and types of hearings, trials, motions, and calendar events.
Plea and ResultPlea by count, disposition date, verdict, dismissal, or nolle prosequi.
Sentence and ReviewSentence terms, costs, restitution, transcript, appeal, and remittitur entries.

A charge line is only an allegation. It proves nothing about guilt. The disposition fields and the filed order tell you the court's actual result.

Read Miller Criminal Status Terms

Georgia's docket rules use exact terms, and the wording carries weight. A "closed" label online may not reveal how each count ended. Always read the result and date at the count level.

Accusation
A formal charging document often used without a grand-jury indictment where law permits.
Indictment
A formal accusation returned by a grand jury.
Nolo contendere
A no-contest plea, distinct from a not-guilty plea.
Nolle prosequi
A recorded decision not to prosecute a charge at that time.
Remittitur
The document returning an appellate decision to the trial court.

Miller County publishes no confirmed legend for its live portal codes. So skip abbreviations borrowed from other counties, and never read a disposition into a short status label.

Stages on a Miller Criminal Docket

A Miller County felony record builds over time. Magistrate events come first. Those may cover a warrant, first appearance, bond, extradition, or committal. The Superior docket then picks up the filed prosecution, arraignment, motions, trial or plea, and the final result. Not every case walks the full path.

Docket flow: Warrant or charge › First appearance › Accusation or indictment › Arraignment › Pretrial proceedings › Plea or trial › Disposition › Sentence › Appeal, if filed

A scheduled hearing is just a setting, not a result. Look for a later continuance, amended charge, dismissal, warrant return, or final order before reading a calendar entry as an outcome.

When a Miller Warrant Is Missing

A name search that comes up empty does not mean no warrant or case exists. Miller County Magistrate Court handles warrants, first appearances, bonds, committals, and warrant-application hearings. Superior Court keeps criminal cases and criminal warrants within its assigned work. Where you turn next depends on the event you need.

For a Magistrate warrant, first appearance, or bond question, call Room 110 at 229-758-4110. Need a filed felony case instead? For that or a Superior criminal warrant, call the Superior Clerk in Room 103 at 229-758-4102. Give staff the full name, an approximate date, and any known court or case number. They can point you to the right office, though they cannot offer legal advice.

Key point: GovernmentWindow is a Colquitt traffic-payment route. It is not a county criminal docket or warrant search.

Which Miller Court Holds Dockets

Miller County Superior Court hears felonies. Its criminal records sit with Gail Johnson, Clerk of Superior Court. Miller County Magistrate Court covers early criminal functions plus certain assigned misdemeanors. The Probate Court can take specified misdemeanor and traffic work where no State Court exists. That holds unless a party requests a jury.

Colquitt Municipal Court handles city traffic and ordinance matters. Federal allegations tied to Miller County go to the federal system, usually the Middle District of Georgia's Albany Division. Those are searched through PACER rather than PeachCourt. Juvenile delinquency records move through a separate confidential process.

Note: Ask which court created the event before asking where to search. "Criminal record" is too broad to route a Miller request reliably.

Miller PeachCourt Case Details

PeachCourt's official help pages describe a criminal case information page listing the judge, status, co-defendants, prosecution and defense counsel, charges, dispositions, calendar events, docket proceedings, and case documents. What each court offers varies. Pulling documents remotely can require an account and payment, and some filings are excluded. Remember that a docket entry and its filed document are two different things.

The official Georgia JDEX page explains controlled juvenile-data access.

That boundary is firm. JDEX serves authorized users only, and it is no open public substitute for an adult Miller County criminal docket search.

Public Access to Miller Criminal Dockets

Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 opens with public access, but that access has limits. A judge may close part or all of a file under Rule 21.1. Rule 21.6 and Georgia filing law shield personal identifiers. A public docket line can stay visible anyway. Its document may be redacted, sealed, missing online, or behind a purchase step.

Key Rules:

Uniform Superior Court Rules 21 and 39.3 govern access and criminal docket fields.

Georgia JDEX limits juvenile justice data to authorized access.

Juvenile records do not show up in an ordinary adult docket. Sealed material, protected identifiers, and proposed orders that a judge has not signed can be left out too, so an online miss is never proof of anything about a Miller County case.

Request Miller Criminal Documents

Once the Miller County court docket points you to the filing you need, ask for that one document instead of everything the clerk holds. Write out the court, the case number, the party name, the document title, and about when it was filed. Gail Johnson's office sits at 155 South First Street, Courthouse Room 103, Colquitt, Georgia 39837. Mail travels to P.O. Box 66, Colquitt, GA 39837. The listed phone is 229-758-4102, the fax is 229-758-6585, and email runs through gail.johnson@gsccca.org. Doors stay open weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Say whether you want a plain copy or a certified copy, and ask for a price estimate first, since the clerk posts no current criminal-copy fee. A written request can go out on the Miller County Open Records form, sent to the proper constitutional custodian. For wider search options, the Miller County case search covers them.
